Your account, your consent

OAuth 2.1 with PKCE: you sign in on metalapi.com and approve each app. Disconnect any time under Settings → Connected apps.

Read-only by default

Eleven of the thirteen tools only read data. The two that change something — creating a key and preparing a checkout link — ask for your confirmation first.

No payments by AI

The assistant can prepare a checkout link, but only you can pay it. Nothing is ever charged by the MCP server.

Same limits as the API

Market data calls are logged in your dashboard and count against the same monthly quota and per-minute limits as REST requests.

Questions

Do I need a paid plan?+

No. The Free plan (100 requests a month, daily prices) works with every data tool except gold-by-carat prices. Paid plans add fresher prices and higher limits.

Which assistants work with MetalAPI?+

Any MCP client that supports Streamable HTTP: Claude (web, desktop and Claude Code), ChatGPT connectors, Cursor, VS Code with GitHub Copilot, Windsurf and others.

Can the assistant see my other data?+

No. The connection only reaches MetalAPI: prices, your plan, usage and API keys. It never sees your conversations or other apps.

What if I hit my monthly limit?+

Data tools return a quota-exceeded error with an upgrade link until the 1st of the month. Account tools keep working.
